I just love reading your posts, and look forward to future postings. Daylesford is a delightful town, in fact, Barry has a cousin Robert Hunt living there. He has a business making meusli, or he did in 2006. Next time we are passing your way, we will pop in. In the meantime, keep up the very informative posts.

Fair comments Pam. I must admit many of today's service men and women deployed in Afghanistan, etc. are themselves part of the younger generation I referred to and their children will grow up having an active relationship with the ANZAC tradition. I also agree that economic considerations are the driving force behind wars but that has little to do with the point I was making. Perhaps you didn't get it. And yes, man is an agressive creature and always will be, I think.

Hi Peter,
There are a couple of points in your post that I disagree with. The younger generations do appear to be interested in Anzac Day and the spirit of Anzac. Many still attend marches and more and more flock to Gallipoli each year for services. With our troops in Afghanistan and other overseas deployment, they too are part of the Anzac tradition. Every country does need its heroes and traditions and by honouring the Anzac tradition we are honouring the men and women who gave so much to protect this free and wonderful nation, not honouring war.
I too would love to see a war free world, but war has little or nothing to do with settling differences. It has everything to do with power, and ultimately, economics. Vast fortunes are made by some in times of war and hence war is often encouraged by arms sales and support of various factions by powerful nations. Mankind is not a peaceful animal and I can't see the world changing. Sounds pessimistic, but that is the reality.
Peace be with you.

Thought that might be the case with Green Patch. I think we drove through there last year when we stayed at Vincentia. Hope you found some quiet place to set up and take in some nature.
